About PAYR

What is PAYR?

Performing Arts York Region is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1985 by some music-loving residents who wanted to bring Canadian classical musicians to York Region.  PAYR has charitable status.

PAYR Objectives

to provide local access to classical music performed by superior artists

to give young Canadian artists an opportunity to gain experience on the public stage

to provide a local Residential concert program

to provide financial support to local young musicians

Making it Happen

Since 1985, PAYR has contracted with the finest of Canadian talent to produce a season of five or six concerts.  For the last three seasons, a Young Artists' concert has been added with ticket revenue going to the PAYR Founders Scholarship Awards.  These awards will support outstanding young musicians from York Region. 

Outreach At-Home Concert Program

General revenues and sponsors will continue to enable PAYR to extend the access to music for people in York Region through its Outreach At-Home concert program in local nursing and retirement homes. 
During the last couple years over 25 concerts have been presented.

Who supports PAYR?
